Involvement

From time to time, Lady Strong’s Bonfire runs courses and workshops to inform our work and to engage with our local community. At the moment, we don’t have any upcoming workshops in the pipeline but please sign up to our mailing list and we’ll email you when there is.

We would love it if you would like to contribute to the research of our current project ‘The Bed,’ by filling in our questionnaire here.

Painting exhibition

An exhibition of Concept Art and other theatrical musings.
Lady Strong’s Bonfire’s Tomasin Cuthbert is presenting her first solo exhibition at The Tobacco Factory Cafe Bar this April. Her paintings explore the themes we present in ‘The Bed’, and you are invited to attend the official exhibition opening night and fundraising event on Thursday the 7th of April.

As well as the usual drinks at the bar and chats with the artists, the evening will include a sneak preview of some of the costumes and puppets from our upcoming theatre production, as well as hear some of the work-in-progress sound design being created for the show. We will be fundraising for our ongoing production costs, so bring your coin purses, as there will be a chance to win an original artwork as well as other exciting, bespoke prizes! We hope to see you there.

Our Partnership with Self Injury Support

Our partnership with Bristol based charity Self Injury Support (SIS), has contributed to the research process for our up and coming show The Bed. We have also been working closely with Naomi Salisbury from SIS to create a safe and comfortable environment for our creative women’s sessions. SIS is a Bristol-based, UK-wide organisation which focuses on better support and understanding around self injury. As two women’s organisations the aim of our partnership is to bring together our joint expertise in creativity and wellbeing.

Self injury Support offers services run by and for women and is interested in exploring different forms of self-expression and supporting positive mental wellbeing. By collaborating together, SIS is able to bring skills in supporting women to discuss and explore sensitive issues to creative environments, as well as expanding their knowledge of creative arts and women’s experiences. We’re really excited about the work we’ve done together so far and keen to see what the future holds! For more information on Self injury Support please visit: www.selfinjurysupport.org.uk

Education and Training

Lady Strong Bonfire’s Co-Artistic Directors, Tomasin, Tessa and Liz have over 30 years educational experience between them and specialise in offering workshops in puppet and mask theatre. We teach in primary and secondary schools and can deliver sessions that fit in to, or compliment, the national curriculum. We also train students and professionals and work with degree students at Circomedia and at Bristol Old Vic Theatre School. We currently have a particular interest in developing our outreach work for post 16 and community groups. Please get in touch if you would like to book a workshop or would like to discuss your requirements.
