Mummy Monster

Mummy Monster is written and performed by Liz Hart and co-produced with Lady Strong’s Bonfire. It is about one woman’s journey from a seeming state of balance into a monstrous state where she is no longer fully in control. The show explores the times when you as a parent “lose it,” and is an honest look at the pressures of parenting.

Mummy Monster is a powerful and exciting site-specific kitchen show that tours to community venues and private homes. It is also a frank, funny and ferocious studio theatre show combining visual, physical and comic theatre.

During the research and development of Mummy Monster we worked with Bannerman Road Children’s Centre and Shanti Sherson, Arts Development officer at the Wellspring Centre, Barton Hill, Bristol. The outcome is a show that is lively and accessible and will reach many that may never go to the theatre, but do often find them selves in the kitchen. Some shows are in the daytime with a crèche so do get in touch if you would like to find out more and follow the links on this page for bookings.

Mummy Monster is a tale of isolation and adoration and is for anybody who has spent long hours with small children, or who cares about anybody who does.

We are also delighted that early film material of the show taken during the research and development period will be included in an exhibition called Performing Parenthood and is available to view online at The Digital Institute of Early Parenthood between 21st January and 31st March 2017.
